Ruta del Peregrino

A religious phenomenon centred and moved by the adoration to the virgin of talp was Ruta del Peregrino is Stretching out on a distance of 117 kilometers to La Ruta del Peregrino (Pilgrim’s Route), approximately two million people visited each year in this religious phenomenon coming from different states of México to walk through the mountain range of Jalisco.

Providing the historical route with better conditions for the pilgrims and maximizing the social and economical profit for this area by taking advantage of this massive event were the aim of this project aims. The project became a sustainable site with different layers of meaning based on a systematic vision.

The master plan consisted of an ecological corridor with infrastructure and iconic architectural pieces that added to the religious ritual and also aimed to appeal to a broader audience and allow the Route to have a flow of visitor beyond the religious. Becoming the imaginary landmarks of a deeply rutted phenomenon, the iconic narrative given to the Route with 7 pieces that strongly related both to the extraordinary landscape and to the religious ritual was the focus.

The Lookout Point was designed by Swiss architects HHF. The unique building was the first of eight structures to be completed for the religious Mexican pilgrimage la Ruta del Peregrino, open to pilgrims for the first time this year. The journey was about 117 kilometres through the mountain range of Jalisco. Now, six of the eight structures along the route were complete, while the final two were under construction. The architects were Fake Design, Luis Aldrete, Christ & Gantenbein, Dellekamp Arquitectos, Elemental, Godoylab, Omar Orlaineta, Periférica and Tatiana Bilbao.
