Jill Anholt is the Canadian artist. Recently, she has designed the Line of Work that is an installation for the edge of a pedestrian pathway next to the new Vancouver Convention Centre. The inspiration came from the ripple effect which is translated into a giant wave-form that reaches out towards the sea. This installation is created from the arrangemement of a series of individual elements that work together.
This sculpture is built with a series of stainless steel frames supporting laminated yellow cedar elements that cantilever increasingly in reach and angle outwards from their base. This public installation spans over 110′, each element is 20′ tall and varies from 2-8′ in depth. The philosophy of the installation design is so meaningful that can be interprets in various meaning.
