The Building Design of de Albatros in Amsterdam

This project located in the area around the van Hasseltweg in Amsterdam Noord. The project de Albatros is a residential building which was reconciling the confrontation between the scales of the new large developments and that of the surrounding housing. In order to solve this challenge, the building was designed to “break it up”.

De Albatros consists of four towers like the flippers plugged into a base. These structure houses the commercial and public oriented services with the same heights with the buildings surrounding them. There are 130 residential units in the upper floors of the tower. The internal layout was designed with the consideration to maximize the views and daylight comes through into the units. Design by HVDN
