Mainly, this five storey building is designed to facilitate the famous “Bebek Bengil” restaurant in Ubud, Bali. Bebek Bengil has known widely as the tourist destination because of its crispy fried duck menu and unique location on the rice field. This mixed use building designed to be contextual to its site which is between a heritage low rise residence and high rise commercial business district. So the design must be expressed the commercial aspects wisely to the heritage area. TWS & Partners as the architect of this commercial building did the efforts to mix the Balinese architecture in the busy modern city of Jakarta all in one limited triangular site.
The Ubud design has inner courtyard enclosed by two perpendicular massing. The curtain wall facing the street finishes in green tinted color of glass material. This is as the respond to the sky reflection to diffuse the façade with the sky also create low impact to its surroundings.
