This gateway design got First Prize award in the international competition to design the Los Angeles West Coast Gateway. The gateway is intended to be a monument to celebrate Pacific Rim immigration to the United States. Asymptote has designed the Steel Cloud to occupy a zone directly above the median strip of the Hollywood Freeway, and the structure is an architectural assemblage of situations and spectacle where scale is purposefully disconcerting. This living monument is including galleries, libraries, theaters, cinemas, parks and plazas.
